The Shared Journey

Have you ever gone in through the exit?

Dear TSJ Friends, For our shared journey wisdom this week, I am about to tell you a true tale. I wish I made it up. It all started in the yogurt, sour cream and shredded cheese area of our grocery store. It happened because I was shopping in a hurry and against my better judgment because of COVID-19. Solomon has been kindly bemused by it too. He thought it great material for us to ponder together because his goal is to help expand our capacity for love and compassion. So what happened?  I had a large blind spot.  You see,

Do Unto Yourself as You Do for Others

Dear TSJ Friends, I know you are all familiar with “The Golden Rule” which of course is the accurate perspective for us to live out our days. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” But I had a quirky thought about that. What if I turned that around a bit?  What might that mean for our TSJ community? I hoped it would give us a moment to pause.  To take the familiar and play with it. And I hoped it might get your attention. When you think about applying some of the gold in the “golden

Hope in Your Heart

Dear TSJ Friends, (Remember to click on the green picture header for easier reading on your phone)  As you can see, Solomon is in his newest favorite rocking chair, anxious to discuss some age old wisdom ideas to encourage us.  He says that although life in the muddy pastures of earth surrounded by life sucking predators can threaten us, we need never to despair. First of all we can always claim and renew our faith in God’s presence – within us and around us. Scriptures assure us no matter what transpires here, “These remain: faith, hope and love. But the

Lifted!

Happy Wednesday, Dear TSJ Friends!  (Remember if you are reading this on your phone be sure and click on green header for much easier reading) May you experience something wise and wonder-full in your day.  (It doesn’t have to be a major life-changing “something.”)   But with an attitude of expectancy ( faith and hope) it is amazing what “shows up” to “lift up”our spirits.  In life’s trials, we mortals easily lose focus on God – our Source of life, Love, joy and peace. I confess I lose focus easily. My vision gets clouded.  So looking for something wise and wonder-full in

OK … But What About the Children?

Dear TSJ Friends, What a week this has been in the news. Millions of minds and hearts around the world have likely faced deep feelings of concern for the boys and their coach trapped in a cave in Thailand –  facing not only the trauma of that alone, but the possibility of being there for several months or facing death due to the arrival of their monsoon season. We empathized with their parents and with the boys, their brave rescuers and with urgency that commanded the finest of minds to develop strategies and share their expertise to make the rescue

Where There is a Will . . .

Greetings, TSJ Friends, Have you ever heard the expression, “Where there is a will there is a way?” What does it mean to you? I am quite certain that was one of my father’s favorites.  And I did not like it at the time.  This usually (but to his credit – not always) came in a less than inspiring context. You see, he said this when he wanted us to do something that he felt we were perfectly capable of doing and we were resisting. I remember more than once hearing him say this and watching him simply walk away.

Need a Lift?

Dear TSJ Faithful Friends, Sometimes we all “need a lift” in life!  We often don’t think of it that way when it comes to our emotional state of being, but if our car breaks down or we run out of gas or our car is stuck in the snowbank etc. and we need to get somewhere on time; if someone asks, “Do you need a lift?” it is like music to our ears. When a child cannot see the monkey in the zoo or the fireworks in the park we give them a lift. And things look different. When a baby

TSJ “Team” Ponders . . .

Happy Wednesday to our TSJ Friends! It is that time of the week when we seek just a little bit of wisdom, like Winne-The-Pooh sets out each day to find a little taste of honey. And as you know, along the way his search leads to all kinds of adventures and mishaps. So our own team of experts have been busily discussing what to share. Those experts are familiar to most of you but I need to remind new readers that our “team of experts” are Sigmund, (named after Freud) our resident psychologist, SJ  (Solomon Junior) who constantly questions things from

“She Burnt the Toast”

Dear TSJ Friends, Before the boys and their new best friend (Sigmund) tell on me, I have a confession.  We had an experience this morning they think is worth sharing.  I burnt the toast. I mean, really burnt the toast. Solomon sees Great Wisdom in most experiences. Solomon Junior (SJ) sees excitement and Sigmund (of course – since he thinks he is Freud) sees the psychological aspects of life events. What a trio to keep us honest here at TSJ headquarters!  Now that The Boys (Solomon and  SJ) have discovered the expertise and friendship of Sigmund, I must tell you nothing

The Best Time is Now

Dear TSJ Peeps, Todays little “lesson” . . .  is Now is the time to plant . . . But first, for new readers, it might help to know I blog in letter format. This is because it is a way I join you in life lessons. My stories are yours in many ways.  And yours are mine. We TSJ people discover together the courage, compassion and wisdom we need on our journey to make tough times doable and increase our joy for all times. I am growing more and more aware that on this planet we share the same air. What we exhale
