I cannot believe how much my inner world fluctuates lately between being soulful and silly.
I have been doing lots of reading, research, and note taking in areas that I believe will be helpful for people who are either re-parenting themselves (isn’t that most of us???) and/or parenting children.
On the soulful side, I am realizing that I am excited and even passionate about wanting to pass on things I wish I had known when our children were born, as well as current information science and psychology teach us about human development and intelligence. And as I continue to study and learn (especially brain/behavior information), it seems almost wrong to keep these things to myself.
After all, aren’t we here on this earth to shine the light of love and knowledge for each other?
Well the years are sprinting ahead for me, and I am dying (or rather living) to share useful information and tidbits of wisdom with you. But for now, that is enough soulful reflection . . . because . . .
You see, at the same time, I want to play. I believe in the power of fun and laughter for our well-being. It is in laughter and play that we learn most easily. It opens the mind and heart for assimilating and digesting new information more easily than through lectures and exams, or warnings and threats. Of course what is fun or funny for one person may not be for another, but that is a different discussion, though we do need to respect that.
So I also want to share personal growth and existential truths through humor and fun as well as through serious reflection. I think both are important. That brings me back to yesterday’s blog on needing “roots and wings” above all of our “things.”
Recently one of my friends has been playing with her passion for photography and nature. She has sent several of her photos and many of them I use on this blogsite. The last few days she has sent a few “talking trees” and some of them have made me laugh out loud.
A few moments ago, I heard the “ping” on my inbox while I was in the middle of “serious” note taking and I am glad I indulged my curiosity. It was a magical moment. Hearty laughter brought me back to my senses and gave me that inner jog that research says is stress relieving and healthy!
If you are feeling a little too bloated at the moment, you may laugh too. I hope you do!
Finally, I have enrolled in an online class called “A Course in Laughter” which sounds like great fun. I have been thinking about sharing with you an alter ego or two of mine. We shall see what the “alters” think of that!
If you are interested in attending laughter course let me know. I will gladly share the information with you.
Meanwhile, let’s laugh our worries out of sight.
