The Shared Journey

Sold…or…Not?

Hello TSJ Peeps!  Happy Wednesday!

Welcome back for a Wednesday Wisdom story.  Remember last week I mentioned “What a difference a day can make?”

Sold...or Not?Last Wednesday I accepted a purchase offer.

On Thursday the “SOLD” sign was put up.

I was so excited. No more stress of keeping things “ready for show” and no more worries about having some financial security for purchasing a new place. On top of that, the couple of my dreams seemed to be our excited buyers.

Today the realtor is coming back to take the SOLD sign.

FOR SALE will be the sign again. Some snafus occurred for this young couple.  And what affects the buyer also affects the seller.  Solomon whispered, “ this is true for all of your relationships, both for things that feel good and things that do not.”

Hmm… Anyhow, I was all excited to tell you that things are moving along at a smooth pace toward selling our home and TSJ office (which were both a request and blessings of Mr. Tom before he died).

By the way, I think everyone who has seen our place really likes the TSJ office. They probably are curious about Solomon, SJ, and Lovey.  Boy would they be surprised if they knew they are real. The boys and Lovey have  stayed quiet and watchful thoughThey know they are only real to those who love them.

And Mr. Solomon was moved closer to my elbow this morning.  I need lots of wisdom.   How about you?

 Snafus

Now I fully realize my story is not unique to me.  It is not tragic.  It is only a snafu. (I like that word.)  Snafus, like sneezes, come and go.  Some are more serious than others.  They are usually benign, especially if your spiritual/psychological immune system is up to par!  Anyhow, for awhile I had truly mixed feelings.   I was of course disappointed and I was also thankful this young couple’s snafu came earlier than later! With my whole heart I want the buyer to be happy here. And I want the peaceful and positive energy that we have felt here to nourish many other hearts for years to come.

“Gaping Jaws of Uncertainty”

It so happens that I “felt this coming” and had some extra struggles within my mind yesterday morning.  I followed a discipline that has often helped me since I was a teenager.  You already know I regularly practice the “Sip it and Zip it” morning tea time with God. Lately the sipping works fine but the zipping (remaining still or quiet in my mind) has been a big challenge.

Many of you know that the last few months of his cancer journey Tom joined me in a short reading each day from a daily mediation book titled, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. Many of you readers will wince at the title as it is not your faith path. But some of the spiritual wisdom I glean from this book is really quite universal. And yesterday was amazing as it so often has been for Tom and me.

Before I read the meditation of the day I had journaled about the happenings of this last week and my emotional roller coaster experiences here and there.  Then I read the mediation for the day. All I can say is, “wow.”

I read, “Every person on this planet faces gaping jaws of uncertainty.” I certainly cannot argue with that!  And uncertainty often does feel like gaping jaws ready to clamp down and destroy our dreams.

Literally five minutes after I read that and reflected on the antidote for anxiety is remembering the Chief Shepherd is always present…the phone call came that the sold sign will come down and we will start again.

And that came less than forty eight hours after I had finally signed to have a new place built.  My little ship is on the same waves each of you face.

We can ride those waves.  We can play in the pastures anyway.  We can grab life by the tail one moment at a time and find the good in the “apparently bad” if we look up…shift our focus…and trust.

What is your snafu today? Your uncertainty?

So you see why Solomon is at my elbow.  He is always a reminder to look up and say thanks for love, wisdom, and guidance from the Chief Shepherd.

Happy shepherding!

Love from the behind-the-scenes TSJ team …
