Woolgathering or Wool Shearing?

Warm Greetings, TSJ Friends! Before you get anxious to read about wool be sure to click on the green header on your phones for easier reading. It is worth the few seconds takes to reload. So today I am thinking about wool. Solomon is smiling. And the sheep here in the picture have a lot of wool. Okay. Seriously, I am thinking about more than wool. So here is this week’s story in my personal and spiritual journey. I read something the other day that has struck a chord in me and caused me to pause and reflect –  even daydream

PRESENCE-My Word for This Week

Happy Wednesday, TSJ! (I am so grateful for TSJ followers and I hope you are able to read these Wednesday blogs easily when you click on the green header on your phones.)  Solomon wanted to make his presence known in a more up close view today. As part of my Easter week meditations he knows that I have been learning to choose a word or phrase to help me stay more focused on God and Love. And this week my “sacred word” has been Presence. I must credit author and pastor, David Muysken’s books on Centering Prayer and Sacred Breath-Forty

What Should I Wear?

Happy Easer to TSJ Friends, (Today’s blog mostly reflects my point of view as a woman, but men of course are welcome to read if you dare. And remember to click on the green header for easier reading on phones.) Have you ever stood in your closet that is full of clothes and moaned that you have “nothing to wear?”  For some reason all of those things you have always worn no longer fit. (Usually it is because the clothes have shrunk over time, right?) So you plan a shopping event. Well, it is Easter week and it has been a

Hope in Your Heart

Dear TSJ Friends, (Remember to click on the green picture header for easier reading on your phone)  As you can see, Solomon is in his newest favorite rocking chair, anxious to discuss some age old wisdom ideas to encourage us.  He says that although life in the muddy pastures of earth surrounded by life sucking predators can threaten us, we need never to despair. First of all we can always claim and renew our faith in God’s presence – within us and around us. Scriptures assure us no matter what transpires here, “These remain: faith, hope and love. But the

The Voice of Love

Greetings and Wishes for a Wonderful Wednesday and Beyond to all TSJ Friends, (Remember to click on the green picture header for much easier reading on your devices!) Last week our wisdom messenger, Solomon, seemed to call out to me to be lifted into the old rocking chair in my office.  It was an unusual experience in a sense. Of course, I did not actually hear a physical voice. It was an inner voice – the voice of love, playfulness and curiosity. This week Solomon is in a different spot –  but no worries, he is happily on the couch

Look Where I Am!

Greetings, TSJ Friends,  (don’t forget to click on the green header for easier reading on your phones!) Isn’t imagination a wonderful thing? ( Most of the time, anyway.) This morning Solomon decided to plant an idea in my mind. He wanted a better view of things in the office and he wanted to sit right by me. So I picked him up from the stool where he usually sits and put him in the old rocking chair I recently moved to the office. And I smiled.  His role in my life amuses me and I hope from time to time he

Ordinary and Necessary

Greetings TSJ Friends! As I write our weekly wisdom (with our muse, Solomon, sitting beside me) the sun has burst forth and the day has begun. I have already whispered a prayer for all of us to find joy in our ordinary day especially for us ordinary people out here doing what we do.   And  I have added a request that God’s loving spirit will release us from our fears of failure and inadequacy. May we take a moment and allow that divine Love to wash over us and transform fears and worries into trust in God for strength

Lifted!

Happy Wednesday, Dear TSJ Friends!  (Remember if you are reading this on your phone be sure and click on green header for much easier reading) May you experience something wise and wonder-full in your day.  (It doesn’t have to be a major life-changing “something.”)   But with an attitude of expectancy ( faith and hope) it is amazing what “shows up” to “lift up”our spirits.  In life’s trials, we mortals easily lose focus on God – our Source of life, Love, joy and peace. I confess I lose focus easily. My vision gets clouded.  So looking for something wise and wonder-full in

Desert Thirst

(Reminder: click on green header for easier reading on mobile devices!) Dear TSJ Friends, There are desert times in our lives.  Times when we easily lose hope and are tempted to give up. We may be sad, frightened, lonely. Today is time to reflect on what it feels like to be in a desert.  It is Ash Wednesday for Christians. Also at  this time in our small church, you would detect a collective sadness should you know us well.  And, while It is not  exactly related to Ash Wednesday, it profoundly coincides with it. You see, Ash Wednesday is a

Nature’s Lessons

Dear TSJ Friends This past week we experienced high winds.  High winds can create havoc.  And for many, they did.   Fortunately the weather service had given warnings that were helpful.  We could prepare. We could at least make sure that things were tied down or stored under cover.  We could make sure our phones were charged, flashlights were ready and many provisions could be made for keeping warm…. some people with generators and some with fireplaces. . The storms did blow through our area as forecast. The winds roared in the trees that line the path behind our TSJ
