Imperfectly Perfect

Greetings to TSJ Friends and Readers! A familiar tingle of excitement visibly affected Solomon when he saw me open up the computer and I told him I was going to write to “our peeps” today.  I told him I could not actually make virtual chocolate cookies for everyone but if I sent a picture of them people would automatically salivate and feel welcomed to the blog. We wish you could be here to enjoy them.  Solomon really misses you as do I and Solomon Junior (SJ).  They have partnered with me and many of you for several years and participated

Settled!

Dear TSJ Reader, Today’s tidbit of wisdom comes from a personal experience which has brought me to a new level of peace about fully claiming God’s forgiveness when I misstep. It all started on Sunday morning when I went to church. In the part of the service where we confess our sins and hear words of forgiveness we read a verse from Isaiah that deeply affected me . . .  unexpectedly, almost mysteriously and definitely powerfully.  (More on this in a moment…. ) There can be power in words. Of course, each of us reacts differently according to our perspectives and need

Wilting?

Dear TSJ Friends, (Friendly reminder: if you are reading this on your mobile phone it is much easier to read if you click on the header at the top and wait a second or two for it to change format.) Welcome to a few moments of reflection. Wednesday is our day to check in with each other and be infused with encouragement, nourishment and wisdom. Are you emotionally or physically wilting a bit this week? I am hoping you are thriving rather than wilting. I hope that you have searched for and seized opportunities to play, to feel generally positive,

Are You Dragging?

Greetings Dear TSJ Friends, Do you ever feel like you are dragging your body into the day against its will?  I mean, it is a drag to work all day on little sleep or with lots of anxiety! You feel weary and often discouraged. Sometimes it is a physical drag and others it is emotional, but it is always a challenge when we feel like that. There is a strong inner resistance to doing things so we “drag our heels” or procrastinate or hold back from doing what we really want to do. How many times have you dragged your

Need a Lift?

Dear TSJ Faithful Friends, Sometimes we all “need a lift” in life!  We often don’t think of it that way when it comes to our emotional state of being, but if our car breaks down or we run out of gas or our car is stuck in the snowbank etc. and we need to get somewhere on time; if someone asks, “Do you need a lift?” it is like music to our ears. When a child cannot see the monkey in the zoo or the fireworks in the park we give them a lift. And things look different. When a baby

Solomon Dons a Hardhat

Dear TSJ Friends, Solomon is having a bit of fun this week.  He almost took a day off from blogging with me. But Mr. John reminded him that he has had some fun this week trying on his hardhat. John playfully told him, It is a good thing to wear “different hats” from time to time just for the fun of it!  And that his “peeps” would enjoy seeing it and learning why he was motivated to see what a workman’s hat felt like. We are hoping that you have had some moments of fun this week too! Many of

The Ultimate Passion

(I am still discovering many of you do not realize that you can read these weekly emails on your phone much more easily if you click on the green picture – header -at the top of the email!  It takes a few seconds to load, but it is so worth it!) So …. Dear TSJ Friends …. Greetings on this Wednesday before  Easter! This is the week that Christians remember the Passion of Christ. I will say a bit more about that in a moment. But it brings to mind the question, “What is passion?” The dictionary says it is a  “strong

Take Heart!

Take Heart! Greetings TSJ Friends and Faithful Fans, Today Solomon and I want to spend a few minutes sharing some heart felt messages with you. For years I have been caught between being heart focused and mind focused in both my work and my own life experiences. I am not alone. It is comforting in a way to read about how much research has gone on in the world of science and psychology to understand issues related to the coherence or interconnectedness of our heart and our brain. Most of us are very aware that our heart is vital to

You Awake and Alive?

Dear TSJ Friends, Happy Wednesday!  Are you fully awake and alive today?  I know this is a weird question but you will see why. Are you ready for a small reminder – a tiny bit of simple everyday wisdom? When overwhelmed we need simple reminders! Solomon keeps saying we have so many reasons to be free from much of the worry and guilt that weighs us down and wears us out.  We get anxious, unfocused and weary like the sheep in the picture. Sometimes we get so weary we fall asleep at the wheel. The other day as Mr. John and

Where Are You?

Dear TSJ Friends, Welcome to a couple of minutes with Solomon who invites us to discover some wisdom in our lives each week. Today we are exploring a question.  Where are you? As a coach and as an older person, I increasingly appreciate the value of questions. Good questions help us discover our motives and the longings of our hearts as well as expand our horizons. Questions often help us reflect. They help us remain curious, but taking time to reflect is increasingly difficult in our pressured and noisy lives. However, it is in reflection that we are open to seeing
