The Shared Journey

“Stuff”

Happy Wednesday, Dear TSJ “Peeps,” I am very preoccupied with one word lately: “stuff.” When you hear that word what comes to your mind? Sometimes I have associated stuff with clutter and I have written about that before. Today, however,  I am pondering a difference between simple clutter and accumulated “stuff.” I confess I do not tolerate my own clutter very well-or at least not for very long.  However,  I have been learning  to realize there is a difference between “stuff” and simple clutter. When we are working on projects a room almost certainly will be cluttered.  For example, when the grandkids are around, the room

The Truth of Both – And

Hello Dear TSJ Peeps! Another week has flown by and another Wednesday Wisdom story has taken me completely by surprise. But it is very personal. Should I share this with our peeps?” I pondered. Solomon said, “yes.” And once again he reminded me that every single week our purpose at TSJ headquarters is to share life’s journey with you as it authentically unfolds. This is as important – if not more than – as sharing information and fix-it advice.  Solomon says that our peeps already have a lot of that at their fingertips. I hope you agree. Today’s story happened over

Lead With Kindness

Hello TSJ Peeps! Solomon has been shifted this week to a different seat in the office.  He wanted a bit of a quiet break from SJ and Sigmund so he could have a personal time with Ms. Margie. He knew that I have been feeling concerned about how to help my peeps when they are discouraged as that brings out my own feelings of inadequacy and powerlessness. And I am thinking a lot lately about the various aspects of parenting and marriage that take courage to write and talk about. I put him back on his favorite stool for a bit.

“Nights of Peaceful Slumber?”

Greetings TSJ Peeps! Last night I did not sleep well. How about you?  I know many of our TSJ community have sleepless nights.  Especially teachers and parents and especially at this time of year. The school year is moving by quickly and although there is still so much to accomplish, the kids are wearing down.  As are we adults. Tensions and worries build. When I do not sleep well it always reminds me of what a wonderful thing a good night’s sleep really is. In line with last week’s blog from the Sound of Music,  Solomon wants us to remember: “Strength doesn’t

“Oh Help!” … ” Besides What You See….”

Dear TSJ Peeps, Have you ever heard yourself moan or cry for help deep within the depths of your being? I imagine most everyone has done so, but especially parents. I happen to really, really like the musical, “The Sound of Music.” One day I was telling Mr. John how much I like it and that it is my niece Megan’s favorite as well.  He lit up and suggested we see it again together with a smug look (not unlike our Solomon), adding,  “I actually got to meet Maria and the vonTrapp family!”  And we saw it again, together once and

The Parent Glow

Hello TSJ Friends and Fans, Solomon is absolutely smug today.  I am supremely happy.  I think if you look at me carefully, you will see something I call the parent glow. And Solomon is smug about this for a lot of reasons. By “smug” I am talking about that  “I told you so”  look or “I have known this all along!” look!  I am sure you too have either given or received such a look yourself.  And Solomon gets away with it because he is so very gentle and loving, no matter how much turmoil I may be in. Anyhow,

Quick Fix?

Happy Wednesday, dear TSJ Peeps! Today when Mr. John and I decided to take our Wednesday morning walk uptown for breakfast, we said good bye to our imaginary team – Solomon and SJ and Sigmund. They apparently had a conference while we were gone because I went with a few ideas to share with you but when we came back, Solomon had a completely different idea.  He wants me to practice focusing on one idea  only.   To help me do so, he suggested I simply tell you what we saw on our walk and what it stirred up in me. So what did we

Cloudy or Clear?

Dear TSJ Peeps and Faithful Readers, It is already Wednesday again and time for our inner wizard to dig deep for some up-to-date and practical wisdom to help us through our week!   Solomon is our voice so when I left our TSJ headquarters this morning with my computer in hand, Solomon cleared his throat loudly.  It is, after all, his day. Mr. John and I needed to leave to do some work at his place while the TSJ headquarters is being worked on.  The basement is being partially finished, and the contractors are at the sanding and painting point. It

Is Your Counter Space Cluttered?

Good Afternoon, TSJ Peeps! Solomon and SJ are likely tired of seeing me right now. I have been home a lot during this past week. Since last WW we have had wind storms, power outages and disrupted lives in our area. And now we have a lot of snow, cold and poor visibility for driving. On top of that TSJ headquarters is experiencing some renovation in the basement so drilling and hammering is drowning out thoughts and conversations at times. So Solomon has been very quiet this snowy morning, except he wanted me to take a picture of his current

TSJ “Team” Ponders . . .

Happy Wednesday to our TSJ Friends! It is that time of the week when we seek just a little bit of wisdom, like Winne-The-Pooh sets out each day to find a little taste of honey. And as you know, along the way his search leads to all kinds of adventures and mishaps. So our own team of experts have been busily discussing what to share. Those experts are familiar to most of you but I need to remind new readers that our “team of experts” are Sigmund, (named after Freud) our resident psychologist, SJ  (Solomon Junior) who constantly questions things from
