The Shared Journey

About Tomatoes and Wisdom ~ A Cool Quote

Today’s blog about knowledge vs. wisdom is well worth thinking about in more detail, but I will leave that up to you to do for yourselves, so this can remain short.

I have been noticing how much people tend to like quotes. Quotes are  often short bursts of wisdom that can inspire, humor, even jar us.

But have you ever noticed that we seem to forget them fairly quickly? As much as I am sure I will remember them, I often don’t.

Like a piece of chocolate in the afternoon, good quotes are a treat. A bite of wisdom. A quick pick-me-upper that is delicious and jump starts us when we are dragging our heels. But they rarely sustain us for long.  They are often hard to remember. Still, like chocolate, I really enjoy them and try to make them last as long as possible. carolyn's tomatoes cl

All that being said, the other day when I was looking for a card for a friend, I  was browsing those cards that have a quote on the front and found one quote that grabbed my attention. I thought you might enjoy it too.  Because it is a good visual that we can relate to, it is easier to remember than many quotes.

“Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”

~Miles Kington~

How might it apply to parenting? Teaching? Decision making? Conversations?

Remember, wisdom is the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgement.

How are you practicing wisdom in your life?
I am happy to tell you that this quote got Solomon’s complete approval.  He likes practical wisdom.
