Good Old Bones

Happy Wednesday TSJ Friends, OUR STORY . . .  AND YOURS “Human being is more of a verb than a noun. Each of us is unfinished, a work in progress.”   Rachel Remen* This is a tale of houses and humans. It is also a story about us and about you. Mr. John has also contributed and our TSJ muse, Solomon, has given it his approval.   “Each of us is unfinished.” Often just when we think life is moving along in the right direction something happens to challenge us and change us. It can seemingly be minor or it can be

Ever Been On The Lookout For Something?

Dear TSJ Friends, Have you ever been “on the lookout” for something? Sure you have! One morning when I began the day with the things pictured above I discovered a surge of excitement about what seems to be my new adventure. I call it my “being on the lookout” adventure. But for this to make sense to you, I need to share in chronological order some mini stories of how I came to welcome this adventure. Most of all, my catalyst for personal growth and reason for sharing this blog letter with you today stems from the fact that I, like

Longing for hope and strength?

Dear TSJ Friends, May our hearts be filled with strength and hope today and in days to come. Today, I thought I would share this picture that one of my spiritual mentors sent me during a difficult time several years ago. I wonder what thoughts, words or mood stirs in you as you look at it? When I came across this a couple of days ago, I was busily looking for a lost document on my computer and on the way to finding it through the maze of things I have saved for later, I found this picture. It stopped

Have you ever gone in through the exit?

Dear TSJ Friends, For our shared journey wisdom this week, I am about to tell you a true tale. I wish I made it up. It all started in the yogurt, sour cream and shredded cheese area of our grocery store. It happened because I was shopping in a hurry and against my better judgment because of COVID-19. Solomon has been kindly bemused by it too. He thought it great material for us to ponder together because his goal is to help expand our capacity for love and compassion. So what happened?  I had a large blind spot.  You see,

No pain, no gain. Right?

Hello Dear TSJ Folks, Who said “no pain means no gain?” I want to have a talk with that person!  I know it means that if you don’t work hard you aren’t likely to make progress. But honestly, it works the other way too I think. Pain interrupts important life activities. I checked my journal, and on Thursday 5/25/20 the first words I wrote on that day were:  Back Alert! Thus begins our shared journey story for the week. Warning . . . our muse, Solomon, who helps all of us see things from a higher self or a Godly

From Floundering to Flourishing – Where Are You?

Hello to all of our dear TSJ friends and fans! (Remember to take a second and click on the green header for easier reading.) If I were to ask you to rate yourself in your current emotional state or in goals, hopes and dreams on a scale of 1(floundering) to 5 (flourishing) where are you? Our faithful muse Solomon is here to remind us again that wherever we are physically or emotionally God is there! Even when it does not seem like it. I am learning the truth of the power of Presence. And I mean God’s Presence. The fact that

Where Are You Today?!

Hello TSJ Friends, Good morning! What is the weather like today? This is often our first question each day. Especially now that most of us are quarantined and hoping to walk outside for our sanity and preferred exercis We have been blessed today with clear sky and amazing sun.  Vitamin D we love you!  Off we walk with masks and smiles under the masks! Question ~ WHERE ARE YOU? Where are you on this beautiful never- before – been lived Wednesday (even if it seems like the “same old” story)? What “state” are you living in?  I mean where are

Dad’s Dream

Dear TSJ Friends, (Please remember to click on the green header for easiest reading.) In one of my morning “meet-ups” with God recently I was highly inspired by reflections on an ancient biblical voice (Habakkuk) that sounded so up to date it was rather jolting.  The lasting value of story always amazes me.  And Habakkuk caused me to  vividly picture desolation when I reflect on the fields of our farm. In fact, as I age and reflect on our current events I realize there is nothing all that new about human behaviors and longings.  Disasters have always happened.  Peoples’ dreams

A Glimpse of God

Dear TSJ friends, Every now and again I get a glimpse of God or at least of God at work in this magnificent universe we are born into.  I think we all do even if we do not describe it that way.   A “glimpse” as the dictionary defines it, is a “partial or momentary view.”  And just a momentary or partial view of Goodness and Light can bring hope and inspiration at crucial points on our life pilgrimage.  Some remain indelibly etched in our hearts and minds. Solomon the muse here at TSJ has been sitting in the

Ever Been Thankful for a Black Eye?

Dear TSJ Friends, Have you ever been over-the-top grateful for a black eye? If so, I would love to hear your story; but while you are thinking about yours – in a couple of minutes I will tell you mine. But first . . . guess who is sitting in your chair – the place where people sit when they visit our home and headquarters. Also in spite of his peaceful nature, Solomon got a little worried last Saturday. He wants to listen to the story again. He likes stories. You see, Mr. John and I left for a short walk
