Dear Peeps,
It is hard to believe summer has arrived. And with it comes new life and
some excitement of things to come, such as dreams of relaxation or at least a change of scenery. It is generally a good time to remember the beauty of nature and soak up some sun or splash in some water.
However, are you – like me – noticing the calendar is starting to fill up? It includes lots of good things like parties, celebrations, and get away opportunities, but at the same time it includes home repairs, doctor visits, transporting kids to activities as well as business meetings, conferences, seminars and summer classes.
So while we live in a wonderful world of choice and opportunities for recreation and relaxation, we are prone to feel the pinch (ouch!) of time. We cannot seem to get away from pressures related to time constraints.
And with constraint often comes stress and resistance. We sometimes feel forced to make so many conflicting choices that we we are not aware of subtle states of inner resistance or tension. Like, with the free morning, should I meet my friend for coffee or should I weed the garden so the place looks good for family coming?
Where there is force, be it obvious and demanding or be it subtle and insidious- there is always resistance…a counter force within. This causes us fatigue (energy drain) in ways that are often subconscious. We squeeze in one more thing in rebellion to not having enough time. We push against time. I know, some of us are more prone to this than others. I am prone to it.
Solomon reminded me this week that we humans act like we are in charge of everything. And we are forgetful.
We forget that we are not in control of the universe or the future. God is.
And, science seems to tell us we can only actually do one thing at a time. Despite our amazing attempts at multitasking, we can actually only do this moment we are in. And we probably need reminders to ask ourselves some questions:
What is it that I most want/need right now for my life to be meaningful an fulfilling ?
What can I do for others?
What would I regret doing or not doing if this were to be my last day to live?
What is absolutely necessary to accomplish today?
Solomon reminded me to deeply ask myself, “How can I live in such a way that I open myself up to receiving God’s abundance, grace and forever Love today?”
Opening up to receive is the opposite of force and resistance.
Receive vs resist! It creates breathing room. An inner quietness. A sense of space.
Remember, Love is power. The power of Love creates influence and generates peace and harmony, happiness and hope.
Force creates resistance, tension. When we are critical, tense, condemning, bitter or anxious we eventually lose personal power. We blow fuses or trip the circuit breaker. Then then toaster cannot do what it was designed to do. It cannot toast your bread.
The same is true for us. We cannot be or live the life we are designed for.
So for this day alone we will have enough. Enough strength. Enough sustenance. Enough wisdom. Enough hope. And most of all – enough Love.
Solomon says, “Let it unfold rather than force it to happen.”
Don’t let the calendar or clock hold you hostage!
Hope you can “let go” and receive the tender care of Chief Shepherd and play in the green pastures of life today.
Margie and Solomon,
