I AM-ing

It is Wednesday!

“The Boys” at TSJ

A special welcome to newcomers this week!  I am so happy you joined us!

I must confess I hope you have read a bit about us or at least heard about what we refer to here as “the boys.”

And what is so special about Wednesday?  Well, for TSJ followers it is a time of sharing life’s journey, of being imaginative with Solomon and SJ (Solomon Junior) our adorably stuffed sheep. The boys (as Tom calls them) help us weave the wonder and open-mindedness of the child within us with the wisdom and compassion of aging and experience.

Yes, welcome to the TSJ fold where we believe we are both shepherded and shepherding in the pastures of life. We use words here of course, but some things simply go way beyond words……

TODAY’S WW:  NO WORDS. JUST GOD I AM-ING:

Today the boys were lifted by “Mr. Tom” to their special place on my desk. The sun is shining on them and the beads that are their eyes show up clearly.  Sorry you cannot see them.  Goodness, I would swear their eyes are dancing today. There is no way to say how  happy I am that Tom could sneak in here on a detour back from the bathroom to his bed and put them here.  No words. Just God I AM-ing … read on…

As I have been thinking about what to share with you from the week so many things have come to mind but words seem inadequate. It has been a week of small waves of  lows but more waves of highs.

As I reflected on the colorful bouquet of graces-of-the-week I was reminded of the truth that the moment we try to use words to describe God we immediately diminish God.  At best, words only point to God… as is true for the sun.  We can never fully describe it. As it true for this week’s graces . . . many of them through many of you.

When Moses asked, “Who should I say sent me?”  (my paraphrase)  God answered, “Tell them ‘I AM’ sent you.”  Hmm. sounds like the ultimate Instant Messaging, doesn’t it?  But it is oh so much more.

I wondered, should I share about the day I reached an all time low (Thursday) when I experienced what it means to be profoundly tired and hungry while waiting for a controlled substance to be filled at the Wegmans pharmacy …surrounded by food when hungry …  and people when I needed to be asleep and alone?

There I sat feeling sad and sorry about things when a TSJ “peep”  (as Solomon calls us) came and sat beside me. She saw my low moment and stayed with me until I went to the car. She carried my groceries and gave me a hug and stood there in the parking lot and prayed for Tom and me.  No words. Just God I AM-ing.

I got home and was still feeling out of control.  My mind would not cooperate.  It grew smaller and more self-pitying by the moment.  I was greeted sweetly at the door by two people I completely adore…my long time friend, Fidella, and our daughter, Amy, who were taking good care of Tom so I could run errands and get my hair cut. I growled and they understood.  They were compassionate.  They saw the fatigue and reminded me that low blood sugar and fatigue don’t play nice in our brains.(Remember that, dear parents!)  I was experiencing what has often been referred to as “mean hunger.”  Like a child, once I ate some food and sat down I was much, much better.  Thank God I was with others who could shepherd me.  No words .  Just God I AM-ing.

Or should I tell you about the fact that I lost some important financial papers and looked for days for them only to decide they got accidentally thrown away? I looked obsessively until I surrendered to letting it go and figuring out a better way.  Happily God was busy I AM-ing and surrendering helped me hear the message. The lost is found.

Finally, I was tempted to list lots of things in this bouquet of graces that include many of you. But to save time and words… let’s just remember that all day everyday . . . God is I AM-ing!

Many of you can relate from your own spot in the pastures.

Let’s work and play today in the pastures of grace knowing the Unseen One is I AM-ing us.

Breathe. Listen. You just may get the message.. “I AM” here.

Margie, Solomon and SJ
